Tips for Cleaning When You're Moving

When you vacate your apartment, it must be thoroughly cleaned and in good condition. All storage rooms and other areas you have used must be cleared of personal belongings and cleaned. If you do not clean the apartment yourself, you must ensure that it is cleaned by other means. If we do not approve the cleaning during the inspection, we will be forced to charge you the full cost of the cleaning that we must perform. The Apartment Checklist (PDF) or Room Checklist (PDF) will help you meet our requirements for move-out cleaning. If you live in a room, you must also clean any other cabinets, etc., that you’ve used—for example, in the kitchen. If you clean and restore the space according to the checklist, you can be fairly certain that we’ll approve your work. If you have small pieces of furniture to discard, break them down and place them in the dumpster. Never place furniture or other items next to the dumpster or in the trash rooms. You probably know that you can take advantage of the RUT tax deduction for move-out cleaning. There are many good cleaning companies in Uppsala. Inspection

In connection with your move, your apartment will be inspected. This means that we will check the condition of the apartment in terms of interior finishes, furnishings, and cleanliness. Associated areas, such as basement storage and/or the balcony, must be emptied and cleaned by the time of the inspection. If you’ve drilled large holes—for example, to install a shelf—you must fill, sand, and paint over them. Materials are available at the office. Please let us know a few days in advance that you plan to do this so we can order the materials. You must schedule the inspection appointment yourself at the office. We’d appreciate it if you could be present during the inspection.

Keys

All keys belonging to the residence must be returned to the SUSbo office. Please note that you will be liable to pay for any lost or otherwise missing keys that have been checked out.

Pests

Pests are not uncommon. If you discover any pests in your apartment or building, you are required to immediately schedule a pest control service with Anticimex. You can reach them at 018-490 39 00, customer number 602595. There is no additional cost to you as a tenant.
